Leading researcher awarded prestigious The Gruber Foundation Fellowship

Congratulations to Dr Iris de Ruiter from the School of Physics, who has been awarded the IAU The Gruber Foundation (TGF) Fellowship.

The Fellowship is awarded to a young postdoc working in any field of astrophysics, either theoretical, observational or experimental. The TGF provides an amount of $75,000 (US) for Fellowships every year, equally divided over three awardees. The awarded Fellowship amount is intended as a research grant covering research-related expenses supplementing a postdoctoral appointment.

Iris works with ASKAP data, searching for exotic radio transients originating from compact objects. Her research involves developing software to confidently identify these transients in the data stream and conducting multi-wavelength follow-up studies to interpret and understand them in detail.

Founded in 1919, the IAU is the world’s largest professional body for astronomers.
